Bankura District Central Cooperative Bank Ltd., often termed as ‘Bankura DCCB Ltd.’ or ‘BDCCB Ltd.’, is one of the oldest financial institutions of the District, which began its journey in the year 1922, as ‘The Bankura District Cooperative Society’, which was primarily set up to help the agrarian class of the District with timely credit for their various agriculture purposes. The other major target was to help the rural poor remove the shackles of money-lenders who used to offer credit at very high rates of interest. In those turbulent eras of pre-Independent India, the society was able to not only work continuously, but was also able to generate profits and grow in size. Even after Independence, the society worked incessantly towards its own growth. In 1959, due to its exemplary work in the financial sector, the stated society was converted into a Bank, and the Bank, so formed, was registered on 06/03/1959 as ‘Bankura District Central Cooperative Bank Ltd’. The Bank continued its successful journey for the next few decades, and was licensed by the Reserve Bank of India with the same name, i.e. Bankura District central Cooperative Bank Ltd.
As a District Central Cooperative Bank closely monitored and aided by NABARD (National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development), Bankura DCCB supports hundreds of PACSs (Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies) and ECCSs (Employees Cooperative Credit Societies) of the District, alongside thousands of SHGs (Self Help Groups). Along with the same, it also maintains and manages more than 4 Lakh individual accounts of people of Bankura District at present through its 20 Branches and 10 ATMs, spread throughout the District of Bankura, with its Head Office located at the heart of Bankura town at Machantala, Bankura, alongside its Main and Evening Branches. The Bank also offers various modern loan products to all its customers, such as:
Along with the same, the Bank also acts as an institution for the implementation of various Government-sponsored Developmental schemes in the District.
In addition to the aforementioned, in recent years, the Bank has also envisaged technology adoption as one of its major focus areas, alongside Retail Banking, so that the new-age, urbane customers may also be included in the fold of Co-operative Banking. However, along with the same, even in this age, the main USP of the Bank is the traditional, courteous approach of its employees through which they try to serve the customers in the best possible ways, and to resolve their issues effectively.
As may be inferred, the Bank, working for the people of Bankura, truly believes and follows the adage of “Believe in Cooperative Relations”, which is not only its motto, but has also acted as a guiding principle in shaping up the attitudes of its personnel towards execution of their respective duties.
